The strongest character will throw the ball farther but will move slower (and vice versa). There are 3 characters to choose from with different strength and speed stats. Visually all the environments look very good. Some have additional obstacles like punching gloves and jumping pads or a cannon shooting bombs that you can also grab and throw at your opponents to stun them. Punching the opponent will make them drop the ball. There are only two buttons: jump and throw (if you are holding the ball) or dash / punch (if you don’t have the ball). The gameplay is very simple: grab the ball and get it into the opponent’s goal. You may remember soccer / football mini-games in Battle Block Theatre and Rayman Legends (and a few other games).īall Grabbers took that idea, polished it and made it in a standalone game. There is no online multiplayer or AI to play against. The gameplay really feels amazing!An important note: Ball Grabbers is a 1v1 local co-op game. The Arenas do have ”hidden” opponents like random objects in front of the goals, or animals running around or even weather coming in between you and your opponent. Every class feels different with different strengths and weaknesses. You have a time window to score goals and the one with the most wins the game. It is a 1v1 Local game where a friend plays against you. The Gameplay mechanics are very easy to learn ( and difficult to master ).

That is where the game shines in my opinion. It still gets my recommendation because it is cheap and it can be incredibly fun in short bursts. In its current state, there is no depth to the game and no progression. Ball Grabbers would be much better if it had online multiplayer, ranking system, AI opponents, and support for more than 2 players. The whole style just matches this arcade game with colorful arenas, vivid lighting nice shadows and funny looking characters where every character looks different and matches a style ( Strong, balanced and Fast ). Graphically there is nothing amazing but it isn’t a bad looking game either. But can also be enjoyed on a single keyboard by two players – like back in the day!
